Facility Design and Workflow Optimisation

Facility Design

Concept design floor plan for a multistory clinical and non-clinical imaging research facility, showing rooms labeled with functions such as offices, imaging rooms, storage, and labs, with dimension measurements in red.

Increased interest in and demand for imaging and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals is leading to a growth in the development of new infrastructure. Whether it is facility remodelling to support equipment replacement or new build activities, optimising facility design to make sure the most is made of available space with a focus on patient flows, manufacturing capability, staff experience and future use is key. Involving expertise early in the process avoids unnecessary complications and delays during the construction and implementation phase of any project.

CITRAS has unique experience in the design and development of facilities

  • GMP radiochemistry/radiopharmacy suites (US/EU)

  • PET-CT and MRI Scanning suites

  • Patient areas

  • Staff areas

  • Storage

  • Radiochemistry, radiopharmacy and imaging equipment selection

With the exception of academic research facilities, [18F]FDG has been the primary, if not only, radiopharmaceutical produced by CMO’s and used by the majority of imaging sites. The significant growth in radioligand therapy, requiring appropriate patient identification for trial inclusion, has put significant demand on these institutions to implement the manufacture and clinical use of new radiopharmaceuticals. New ways of working often require wholesale review of optimal use of existing infrastructure, processes and resources. Where necessary, introducing change must consider appropriate risk management and a focus on timely delivery. CITRAS can support you and your team navigate change by helping with:

  • De-risking timelines and delivery

  • Reviewing organisational structure

  • Business planning

  • Budget development and cost management

  • Quality management

  • Process review and optimisation

  • Training
